Hair Transplantation (FUE & FUT)

What is it?

Hair transplantation relocates hair follicles from a donor area (commonly the occipital scalp) to thinning or bald areas using either Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) or Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT/strip) techniques.

Who is a candidate?

• Individuals with stable androgenetic alopecia, sufficient donor hair density, and realistic expectations.
• Not suitable for diffuse unpatterned hair loss without adequate donor reserve.

When to choose FUE vs FUT?

FUE is ideal for minimal scarring and quicker donor site recovery; FUT may be preferred when large graft numbers are required in a single session and donor hair is abundant, accepting a linear scar.

Pre-op preparation & tests

• Scalp assessment, medical history, photographs and planning of hairline and density.
• Stop blood-thinning medications and smoking as advised; labs only if indicated by medical history.

Procedure day & expectations

Performed under local anaesthesia with or without sedation. Donor harvesting (FUE punches or FUT strip) → graft preparation under magnification → recipient site creation and implantation. Patient can typically return home same day or next morning.
